2012 Advocacy Network Policy Priorities
1. Funding for treatment of mental illness and substance abuse is one of our state’s most critical needs.
The state needs to increase the availability of treatment for our state’s neediest citizens.
2. Criminal Justice Reform
More than half of the inmates in Oklahoma’s prisons are imprisoned for crimes related to their mental illness and addictions. In spite of the high cost, prison only perpetuates the problems. By providing treatment and intervention, we can reduce incarceration and help make Oklahoma safer.
3. Access to Affordable Health Care
As our economy continues to be affected by global and national economic woes, Oklahomans are finding it more difficult to access basic health care. There is no path towards success that doesn’t include healthy workers and citizens.
